Verified Reviewer |Breaks stopped working on the first time out
The 2024 Momentum 395MS brakes went out on the first time out. It was pretty scary to lose the ability to stop something that size.
It's now been 3 weeks and it's still sitting at the dealer's shop with no wheels on it. When I ask why it takes so long to do a brake job, they tell me to call Grand Design. That's basically the door to nowhere.
For something that cost so much money, one would assume they would fix it on the spot. There must be a way to hold these people responsible and get some action.
- Looks great just what we were looking for
- Poor customer service
Preferred solution: Fix it.
User's recommendation: Don't do it unless you are willing to deal with bad service.

Verified Reviewer |Manufacturing & safety defect neglected under warranty
**Update 6/10/2024**
Had yet another 3rd party professional shop inspect our rig and they also agreed the components are out of alignment causing "crab walking" and that there is a cracked hanger on the rig. Grand Design still refuses to make the necessary repairs under their warranty.
Don't buy into their warranty extensions nor their "family" it's all a gimmick to get your money and leave you high and dry when things get tough for them. We are now over $4k into trying to fix their manufacturing & safety defect with no relief.
**Update 6/02/2024**
Grand design requested I have a 3rd party proffesional inspection the trailer. They also found all of my issues without my guiding them to those issues and filed a report (shown below) stating it all needs to be fixed under their warranty. Proffesionals also stated that any alignment outside of 1/8" was a huge safety issue (we have measurements out of spec over 1/4" to 3/4") This was all sent to Grand design where they stated its within their specs (they state 1/4" is within spec so its still not all within their own specifications) and are refusing to fix the issue and neglecting their customers once again, this company has made it perfectly clear that they do not care about your safety nor the safety of anyone on the road.
**Update 5/18/2024**
Yes, they do have my information, they've not only been emailing me for months, but have called me just this past week discussing this issue after seeing this review as well as the Better Business Bureau review I left, stating that they would investigate the issue further and get back to me, however no such thing has happened.
I have since found cracks in the trailers frame and gaps / drops throughout the flooring inside, and have found proof once again that the axles are out of alignment since it was originally purchased.
I have filed a report with the NHTSA at this time providing every detail, email, invoice, photo, video proof, and written statement.
**Original Review**
They'll make you as the consumer, jump through hoops to fix the problems with their units. Calling any idea they have "suggestions" so they can weasel out of coverage of anything done to your unit per their "suggestions"
Even if you show them proof of the issues (video, written documentation, multiple witnesses, etc.) and show that the parts they've installed are out of specification - they'll assume no liability leaving you with the bills and an unsafe expensive camper because they choose not to fix it. They'll try to bully you into submission when you stand up to them as well, I've found and anytime they have information that hurts their case further they will call you rather than continue in email correspondence so they can try to lose the paper trails. They'll also tell you that people with 30+ years' experience don't supersede their techs who claim nothing is wrong when they've proven time and time again their products are failing.
They'll also blame you - your experience, tow vehicles, hitch(es), everything they can to push blame from their units.
In my case the trailers axles were installed 5" out of spec in terms of front to rear positioning, and also have a 1/2" difference between a front & rear hanger diagonally causing sway, bounce, tracking issues, movement etc. in the trailer. I've learned since that I'm not the only owner experiencing this issue and not many have found solutions that work.
Those who have, I've tried with no difference made in my particular unit.
Now I'm told it's my responsibility to pay a 3rd party out of pocket to prove (again) that there's still an issue. Then, once I do; it must be reviewed by their team before they deem it something they need to fix under their "warranty".
NHTSA and BBB are being notified of their actions and the risks they take of letting these campers stay on the road by letting these problems go unsolved.
- Nice floor plan
- Cant tow it
Preferred solution: An apology, Fix it under warranty, reimburse me for all the "suggestions" Grand Design made me pay for out of pocket that didn't solve their manufacturing & safety defect if not buy the thing back.
User's recommendation: Take your business elsewhere
Bad hot water heater
Customer representative did all he could do. My problem was my tankless water heater went out after 14 months.
It was out of the manufacturer warranty. It appears there have been a lot of problems with tankless water heaters.
I wish Grand Design could offer an extended warrants on appliance. Just a hard pill to swallow paying for repairing something on a travel trailer this expensive when the trailer is just over a year old.

Verified ReviewerTwo time owner of Grand Design travel trailers
In September 2023 we purchased a 2024 GD imagine XLS 17MKE. We loved that camper.
The kitchen space and storage is better than most larger campers and serviced us very well for the last year of camping. This September our little camper was destroyed by TS Debbie. We received an insurance payout and bought the 22MLE. Its a bit bigger and we are very happy with it.
It will take its maiden voyage next week.
After many hours and days of research and walk throughs of other brands the Grand Design is the only brand we wanted. Their fit and finish is top notch.
- Fit and finish
- Storage
- Construction
- None so far after two grand design campers
User's recommendation: Highly recommend Grand Design for fit and finish and attention to detail
Damage
From the first time we put it on the road 2021 Solitude the island was falling apart molding just about every time you stop you have to fix Now not even 3 years old had a leak went on the roof all kind of problems part of the roof is bubbling up like it never stuck. Rips all over .For all the money these things cost it should be a little more reliable.
User's recommendation: They need to check over there product before putting it on the market.

Verified Reviewer |Warranty
Still not happy with warranty on snapped leaf spring.
Now toilet flap is broke and both fenders are cracking. This is our second grand design and we think the first one was much better built!
Resolved: Pin box replacement with a goose neck pin box gen y.Y
Company fixed the issue and I have been provided with apology. It was a question on warranty work. They answered my question
. I actually have no problems
I was just wondering what the warranty is and removing the Fifth wheel pinbox for a goose neck pinbox.
Will it void the warranty?
My dealer says he has a Gen Y pin box that they can put on.
Not worth money
Furniture is my first issue! It starts peeling within a month and once starts wont stop.
My second issue is cabinet space. Dishes and even cups or can goods do not fit.
Washer/dryer has no space to work if issues. Lots of areas that are difficult to reach/clean and quality of materials is cheap
- Living room
- Limited cabinet space in kitchen
- Furniture
Preferred solution: Furniture replaced
User's recommendation: Don’t buy!

Verified ReviewerMany issues that I just can’t believe.
Originally was impressed with my grand design transcend 265, but we parked it over winter for 2-3 months just before the warranty ran out. Big, big, biggest mistake.
Came back to turning on the water and couldnt figure why it would come out of the kitchen sink. Oops it was going under the cabinet because the faucet had come unscrewed. Not so bad, quick fix. Then when we tried to retract the pop out it jumped and took out the smoke alarm, *** Second one by the way because the factory one didnt work.
No problem bug a second. Very next trip after new one installed bam takes out the smoke alarm. What theeeee. Investigation latter to discover the cheap as tape they put between the flush wall that sears against the outer wall(looks like black duct tape by the way) is palling up and sticking to the outside wall.
Instead of sealing my 35,000 dollar camper properly they used duct tape which peels back. There is absolutely no room to get back there and replace and get all the sticky of the wall without a tech. Its like an eight foot length of tackiness and tape just gets worse. Wish I was a dwarf so I could get back there without spending thousands for probably a 20-30 dollar role of tape and sticky stuff remover..
Along with many many other small repairs every single trip.
Its like a job. These two pissed me off the most
- Good looking unit
- Constant job fixing instead of relaxing
Preferred solution: The tape job done right the first time
User's recommendation: Check everything and hire an inspector/tech before excepting

Verified ReviewerThe company that sold me your RV is terrible to deal with and you put *** products in your RV
My fridge and my fireplace have both stopped working, along with half of the things in this place. My stove top and the Furion are not operating as they should.
The TV you supplied is substandard, to say the least. Given the price I paid for this unit, I am extremely disappointed.
- Based on reviews
- Inferior products
Preferred solution: I want to get my *** that doesn't work fixed
User's recommendation: In general you should probably stay away from RVs but maybe go with jayco.

Verified ReviewerResolved: Poor customer service. Delays. POS.
Company fixed the issue and I have been provided with apology. Replaced defective refrigerator
It took 10 days (a Thursday) for our local dealer to come out and diagnose the problem. They said the refrigerator (Furrion) was bad and needed a replacement but, there was no problem because it was covered under warranty. I assumed the service tech put the issue into the computer immediately, but I'm not sure. I called the dealership the next Monday.
They were waiting for Grand Design (GD - for a reason) to process the warranty claim, which might take several days. I called the next week and GD had forwarded the issue over to Furrion, so we were waiting for them. I received a call last Friday asking if we could take a picture of the serial number barcode and email it over. I fulfilled their request within 10 minutes.
I then called the dealership to make sure they received it and it was what they wanted. But nobody was available, so I had to leave a message. I called again today (the next Friday) to find out the status. 'Oh, we're waiting for GD to approve the claim'.
What on earth is going on? It's been 6 weeks and we have no refrigerator! We paid over $70k and we're living out of coolers!
Not to mention the other issues we've found. Sorry, we won't be buying another GD or returning to the dealership in Wisconsin Rapids, Wisconsin again.
- Generally the worst constructed and worst service rv manufacturer
User's recommendation: Avoid GD. Rvs are crap. Avoid dealership - non-responsive, and people just have no clue.

Verified Reviewer |Bad product
I was so excited to get my Grand Design RV. I purchased a 2022 Transcend 265BH; my excitement immediately turned into a nightmare.
Issue after issue, problem after problem. It has been falling apart; my AC stopped working twice. A surge issue blew up my TV, and the refrigerator broke down. My floor is warped and leaking; the glue on the floor has seeped through the laminate.
This RV has ruined my RV experience, so I am planning to sell it; I'm done with the RV life. Oh yeah, I have yet to go on the road or to a campsite — I have spent all my time in the shop doing repairs.

Verified Reviewer |2024 Transcend 265BH - Loud popping floor
My wife and I just bought a new camper 202* ***BH. I didn't notice any noise in the floor when we did the walkthrough at the dealer.
When we took the camper to a campsite for the first time, we discovered a loud popping noise in the floor in the main area. I contacted customer service and was ultimately told the noise was within their tolerance and they considered the case closed.
So we are stuck with a 30K+ camper with a loud popping floor. I am sure it will also affect the resale value.
Preferred solution: The floor noise fixed
User's recommendation: Check the floor over really good if your going to buy one of these.

We bought our 2018 Imagine 26 foot TT, it looked beautiful. Several issues with lights however the big problem we have is shortly after using the fake leather recliners they pealed where you sat.
Uck.
You can not have them recovered because of the seat design so the only option is new. I will not buy this brand again.
